The Joint Gender Fund has over the years contributed to strengthening of civil society responses to GBV and seeks to consolidate this work by broadening the focus of projects supported. Research shows that women are generally more vulnerable to violence, but among other intersections, disability compounds the vulnerability to gender-based violence. HIDSA has undertaken to mainstream and integrate disability in GBV programming building on the work that HiDSA, through the Joint Gender Fund, has done around GBV and disability.
Through this project, the Joint Gender Fund is sub granting community-based organisations tackling GBV, to better understand and serve the unique needs of women living with a disability and faced with GBV. The project has also developed capacity building resources aimed at equipping organisations to implement community level responses as well as enhance the quality of services provided to the communities that our grantees serve.
